 WHY ME?

I believe in hiring inspiring people, not just pieces of paper. I believe work should be enjoyable, challenging, and fun. And that starts with the people involved.

Working with creatives and watching discoveries blossom is an amazing thing. Working with executives and stakeholders and delivering value is satisfying. Taking a business and building it, is the goal.

I will help solve your puzzles.

Formative Years
I grew up in a modest craftsman family home in a suburb of Detroit, MI. As a child there was not a day that went by that music wasn’t in the air. My father played Jazz era tunes, my brothers Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I learned to play several instruments, which served as a background for writing lyrics and creating compositions, one of my passions to this day.

When I wasn’t creating music, I was wandering off into the forest to go for hikes and explore, which I still enjoy. I also had fun drawing with my neighborhood friends and shooting hoop. I think my major breakthrough (I say that jokingly) was a caricature portrait of Michael Jordan — and one of Fat Albert — yes I know : )

Fun Fact 1: Who likes RPGs? When I was 11 years old a friend of mine and I worked a whole summer learning to code basic to develop a computer game. We developed different classes, weapon/armor materials, and stories with combat tied to variable functions to determine outcomes — and created a pick-a-path.

After long hours, and many pizza runs (thanks Mom!) — we finished the demo and started it up. Then, with much anticipation we embarked on our quest! And….we beat the game in under 30min. Amazing right ;-/. All those hours clacking away at the keyboard, scribbling notes, and drawing characters — for 30 minutes of playtime. It’s something to write about a few decades later. I have HEAPS of respect for those coding teams that create those epic MMORPGs!

Fun Fact 2: At 15 years old, I had a mishap involving my forearm while building a cage for my iguanas. 96 stitches strong. Two days later, I hoped on stage playing guitar at a 4th of July festival. (Obviously, the doctor did decent work!) We mixed up some Alice in Chains and Nirvana, with a few originals. I guess we were called BANE! That’s what a family friend put on the video tape anyway 🙂 Awesome time!
Early Career
I purposefully spent a few years as a hired creative gun for temporary agencies such as Aquent, and The Creative Group. I worked and managed projects for Deloitte, John Deere, North American International Auto Show, OnStar, Harvard Industries and more.  My studies of businesses and their approaches served as a great real-world training ground.  Then, I packed up my guitar and traveled to Las Vegas.

There, while leading a music theater project, I met some extremely talented people. I worked as Creative Director for Millionaire Magazine, Art and Advertising Director for Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters. and accepted a few contract projects in small business and real estate promotion in Las Vegas.

I met my wife (an amazing artist) in Denver. We headed further west and traveled along the coast while working remotely in content creation and marketing.

Fast-forward a few states and over a thousand projects later…and voila!

About me: Overall, I’m a humble and fun guy who loves to strategize and create. For me, there is no time to chase the crowd — when leading the tribe.

I’ve been called eccentric, a wizard, and a visionary. Kind remarks, I do dare to be different.
With 15+ years developing winning strategies and productions in sales and marketing and creative teams in business, I know my stuff. Seriously. I make businesses better.

My integrity is strong, as is my ability to synergize disciplines and approaches. I’m a leader, I don’t wait — I do. I’m a writer, designer, composer, and exploratory hiker. When I’m not in the studio or meeting with stakeholders, I’m outside envisioning the next project. And to bring it all into perspective I discuss philosophy with friends by the rising embers of a campfire.

What does this mean for you? Well, it means you will get work that is not only imaginative and unique, but well thought out, and highly effective.

If I’m a master at anything, it is balance. When it comes to developing a creative direction I envision colors, action and emotion and outcomes — then translate that vision into writing, design, and content. I believe that harmony and composition are the driving forces of nature, the beauty that attracts, and the rhythm of relation. I encompass Ethnography with objective and subjective lenses to gain understanding. I see pieces of the puzzle and create integrated strategies. This is not just talk, I’ve generated millions, multiple times.

It is with these considerations that my works are developed.

About my work orientation: Yes, I enjoy solving complex problems but believe me, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to laugh at my mistakes — and learn. I love talented people — we can all learn from each other if we listen. And I’ve listened.

Strategic Conceptualization in Brand, Marketing and Content Development are simply second nature to me. I get it, and I enjoy it. It’s just a matter of connecting with people, then, educating, and inspiring them to the point of action.

And, truly excellent coffee helps, of course!

Why?
Rules are what you follow when you’re new. Risks are what you take when you’re ready.  Lead the customer not follow the competitors.

Now: STOP WASTING SO MUCH MONEY ON GOOGLE ADS!
Seriously…STOP IT.

 Paid vs. Content
(This is just one example)

Both are important as far as a Tactics vs. Strategy approach. However, the value scale will certainly bow to Organic SEO Content for the long term; allowing the brand to build a stronger bedrock of trust, and augment with agile tactics at a much lower cost.

If you spend (for example) $10k a month on Google Ads to have a temporary effect. Invest $5k of that in future growth, and I’ll build Content (SEO/SEM and much more) that will have a LASTING effect and crush your competition by building an empire of relevance. I will also develop a variety of tactical Google Ads that have true flair and have been proven to perform well for the larger campaign.

Give me a mission and I’ll bring home the flag. Give me a team, and we’ll bring home the championship. Need the next mission? I’ll create one.

About my work orientation: Yes, I enjoy solving complex problems but believe me, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to laugh at my mistakes — and learn.  I am not at all stuffy and this may sound odd, but I love critique and feedback. There is ZERO jealousy in my heart, and I will not work with those who are. I love talented people — we can all learn from each other if we listen.

In a world of ties that are too tight, and the menace of metrics — stress seems rampant in business. But I’m not that guy. It’s just a matter of getting it done and done extraordinarily well. And, truly excellent coffee, of course!

Strategic Conceptualization in Marketing and Content Development are simply second nature to me. It’s about connecting with people, I get it, and I enjoy it.

But make no mistake, when it comes to being competitive between you and your competition — they will not stand a chance if I have anything to say about it.

It started early in life, as a child, I developed strategy war game variants (think Axis & Allies, Diplomacy) painted new maps and wrote the mechanics. I strategize, write, design, and lead creative teams — I know my stuff,

I will be an excellent value to any creative and strategic need for business. Because there is no time to chase the crowd — when leading the tribe.
